Events scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 and later:

  • Bible Study Group
First Tuesday (7 – 9 pm) and third Sunday (4:30 – 6 pm) of each month.
All are welcome to join members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Alexandria, as we read through the Bible, about 8 chapters a month. This Bible study group is led by the participants through informal discussion about the reading assignment, which participants read in preparation. Bible commentaries, translations, maps, and other resources are available during the meeting. The purpose is to learn, grow, explore together, and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible.

  • Mid-week Spiritual Break
    Wednesdays and Thursdays, 2pm
Looking for an oasis in the midst of an active week? Try these refreshing ideas to boost your spiritual mercury level.
Every Wednesday, we log on the computer to join the online congregation of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston: it consists of readings specially compiled for the day, as well as testimonies submitted by listeners. These readings are from the Christian Science pastor, the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. An organ prelude, hymns, and postlude are included. Testimonies of healing and other comments about Christian Science are submitted by listeners via email and are read live by two testimony readers.

Ever grappled with how to get through a particularly challenging time, how to find employment, repair a relationship, or find peace in time of stress? You may gain fresh inspiration to meet such challenges from the spiritual solution-based thinking expressed in video offerings we show each Thursday afternoon.

  • Step Out of Your Story and into Healing
    Sunday, June 9
    2:00 PM
This talk explores how leaving the stories about ourselves and others — our personal histories — for our true nature as God's likeness is what Jesus encouraged us to do and is central to achieving Christian, spiritual healing today. Jon Benson, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, will demonstrate how letting a correct understanding of Divinity's Bible-revealed nature become truer to us than what we think we see and hear, become more real than what we believe our stories to be, is an act of worship that can cancel imprisoning stories, bring physical healing and reform character.
    First Church of Christ, Scientist
